Ive messed around with those basic.cfg settings before , and i could have sworn that no matter what i did, it made no difference. Otherwise id never have made this post

Are you sure? scroll down to the ammo configuration portions of the basic.cfg, if i remmeber right you can define how many ammo slots there are in each sub.
