okay. so what i see are a bunch of important elements being brought forward:
The classic interests have been tackled. yanqui cruisers, DDs and DEs of all sorts...
The French have gotten some proper attention (is that the richelieu?), as has the monument at mortenholt has also not been forgotten. (sp?)
I see a few vessels that have a very SHIV-esque feeling... japanese cargo ships transformed?
also some very very old meshes, still working and sailing the virtual seas (auxcruiser from stock SHIII : http://s4.postimage.org/jryx2dm7w/SH...2_11_15_14.jpg)
Pamir... nice.

I loved GWX.
while not perfect for everybody, it was, to me a very good platform to dive into, learn about, earn respect for, and also enjoy the subject.
It was as much a "sink-em all" as well as "be careful in your moves! understand what happened" experience, and GWX brought much of it together in one large-ass package.

the more i see, the more i am convinced that the seriousness of the history has not been forgotten, nor has it been "dumbed down" "made accessible to a broader audience" by the modders.
The awareness has been preserved.
THAT is the most important thing to me.

the more i surf round this place, the more impressed i am by the graphics, and some of the comments.
Still a wharf full of welders, hammering away at it.

there are some true nerds at work, especially in the graphics and manual firing and navigation departments.
I usually let my Weapons officer calculate the shots, and i care more about function, rather than focus on effects or eyecandy.

You say the full war can be had.

With
-a still enthousiastic Subsim Modder forum not only filled with gamers, but also naval enthousiasts,
-the use of any and every available resource (even from old SHIII days - who cares! bring it on!)
-a bunch of technocrates that are not afraid to dig deeeeeep into the details

The only big, true "ouch" moment is the absence of my cruiser. My niner. my one and only atlantic ghost, armed with 105 and 37mm -
God Dammit.

let me find the DVD case. I shall give it a second chance.

Another negative about using your deck gun is that you are definately DETECTED, which has long term effects on your relationship with aircraft. -snestorm
