Yep, basically. And it really is a pretty serious problem when you look at the kind of stuff that some players say and do, when they think they're so great and anonymous. Harassment can't be tolerated, period.

When I'm not playing our usual hardcore sims here, I tend to play shooters etc. with a group of my real-life friends, among whom are girls who, as gaming skills go, are really good. The amount of immature or downright creepy behaviour that they sometimes have to put up with on public servers can be really disturbing. A good friend of mine has had several online stalkers, for example, and had to quit playing a couple of games because of the amount of abuse she was getting. There is a problem with sexism in online games, and it should be treated as harshly as it is anywhere else. Contrary to popular (among some people) belief, most women don't play games to entertain guys or to get attention that they weren't asking for.

And yeah, PC is far better than Xbox and especially Halo (where you are guaranteed to constantly be playing against bratty, entitled 11-13 year olds), but there are still some serious problems there as well. It's just that the average age and maturity level of players is higher.
