i dunno you guys... leaving port is one of the most engrossing parts of the game for me...

the leg out from Lorient to open ocean is a time to be aboard the sub, on the bridge and below at the nav stations checking the departure course... looking for landmarks you can make fixes on... stowing the food in the lockers... and generally making sure the ship is ready for patrol...

not on a god view map looking down on the world and plotting gps-like fixes for the sub to follow...

departing without automatic gps-like waypoint aids... and at night... is one of the more immersive and challenging opportunities the sim gives you...
to rush through this part of the game is doing yourself a great disservice...

it's like not bringing your wounded sub all the way back to port... takes so much away from the game...
