It has also been rumoured new sonar tries to mimick whales sounds and those frequencies, for stealth reasons - at least some of the long-travelling low frequencies are being used.
The sonar anergy emitted, could certainly directly damage the sound system of those big mammals of the sea alone.

I'm not a tree hugger, but i sure do not like what 'we' do to this planet and its other inhabitants - not that we are especially shy towards our own ..
