Semolina pudding (Griessbrei) with stewed cherries (Kirschkompott) - even served as a main dish - is still a popular meal. Especially kids love it.
For those who don't know how to cook, they sell it "ready to stirr".

A simple snack?
Heat a cup of milk in your microwave oven, don't let it boil over.
Add two or three spoons (teaspoons!) of semolina in it, two spoons of sugar and one spoon of butter. Stirr well and reheat/nuke it again for a few seconds.
Fresh or conserved fruits go well with it - or even simply some cinnamon.
300 ml milk and 50 to 60 g of semolina and some stewed fruits will make a nice light dinner for one.
The "hairy dinner" is brawn (chopped pig's head) in aspic jelly (headcheese) - with potatoes iirc.
