Yes they do. You have to be on your toes and use yer noggin to get away. Escorts will now stick to you like glue and can be relentless in their search to hunt you down. Deep and slow, or sitting still out of their sensor range are the only ways to survive the pounding that's in store for you.
Unless you can nail them when they first start coming for you. That's the best way to survive. But you need patience to wait for the right time to get them first. Sometimes it's better to sink all the escorts you can and then go for the merchants. It's better to have only one or two escorts hunting you down than having the whole pack of them after you.
