Decks awash was the only way I could get past this bugger. So far it's worked. Just to be safe I did a Save before I asked and did anything else. My torpedos are primed and ready just in case he gets nosey. And that goes for his buddy just around the point to the NW of the dropoff point.
So I take it that once I'm surfaced the icon will show. Thanks Volodya.
