I have this doubt since I start playing sh3, your mission orders are to reach a certain grid and patrol it for 24 hs,
what happen if you leave it early,(ie. convoy passing thru a near grid square), and return later.

a. you loose the time you've been in and need to restart the 24hs patrol again.
b. you continue the remaining time of the patrol.
c. you can not comply the mission objective.
