Okay, I know it's been asked 125743859 times before, but is they any way to change the destroyed engines to damaged or better? Since I worked hard to get away from a destroyer and only to find out I'm stuck with no engines so it was a total waste of my time.

Story: (Early January 1941)
Met three freighters escorted by one Hunt I destroyer off the coast of Guinea. I thought this will be baby's play; just sink the escort and I'll be able to do whatever I want with the other three ships. My first two TII missed the escort so I thought, never mind, I will attack the freighters anyway. Scored one hit on each of the first two ships, then forced to dive. The lousy destroyer must have got lucky because only one of his attacks actually managed to damage me, and it knocked out my engines. So what now?
