Well the fresh installation didn't help  All I can do is apparently just start a new campaing... too bad, I had lots of fun in the old one.

That's what I meant....a fresh installation. If you start a new campaign the corrupted registry file will rear its ugly head again sooner rather than later and you'll be back to square one.
