It would be longer term than that Chechnya and Russia have been fighting off and on since 1994 before Putin was even in office.That entire region was once a
caliphate of the Ottoman Empire and they have never really had much love for Russians telling them what to do.
You cant really ban blasphemy because it would violate the rights granted to many citizens around the world that have a measure of freedom of speech.Someone is always going to get offended by something anyway.
Things are ridiculous as they are already with all the political correctness.I recall once when I was in the Air Force I was standing with another Sargent a good friend of mine and a Master Sargent.We where talking about this piece of equipment that had been over filled with oil by an inexperienced person.
My friend who is Japanese/Chinese American had this joke where he would jokingly blame mistakes as having been sabotage by the Chinese(as in PRC our frienemy) government said "You know what this is" and I said more of that damn Chinese sabotage" well the Master Sargent did not like our joke very much so start chewing me out asking how I could say that type of thing in front of an Asian.
The fact that the person supposedly to have taken offense was the originator of the joke and explained so meant nothing and I got warned that I would get punished if I said anything similar again.I told that Master Sargent respectfully that it was this exact politically correct nonsense that causes people to leave the military.
This is the world forced upon us people now take offense where none is meant even in the first place and you should make fun of your enemies the nations that compete against yours.
