A destroyer will come to within 400 meters of the rear of my boat, and I release decoys. The destroyer will already be in an attack run.
The decoy will stop them in their tracks. In fact, I have seen them do a full reverse and run over where they just dropped dc's and sink themselves that way.

yea i have noticed that a few times whilst crash diving. i like to drop a bold off at 100m so its nice and loud for them to hear. i have never seen them kill themselves but several times they have ordered back emergency and do a weird loop thing above me without dropping charges
i have also sank a few destroyers by being clever and making lots of noise beside an anti torpedo net. once i am discovered they go flat out for me and cannot slow down in time and often beech upon them. i know in real life it would do almost nothing to a destroyer but it might damage his asdic if he left it down whilst travelling over the net
