I honestly don't know who Emanuel is, nor do I really care about that talking head, or the teacher strike in Chicago. Why would i care? It's not in my area, and it isn't my problem. People only care about this stuff if they have something to prove. As for the OP, some unions in the past have been known to strong arm for more than what is commensurate with the work involved. I have seen unions close factory over demands resulting in no jobs for anyone. It is a mixed bag in some cases.

Yeah, unions are a mixed bag. They do some good, they do some bad. These days i think the probably do more harm then good, though historically, if it wasn't for unions, many of the things we have like a 30 min lunch and two 15 min breaks for an 8 hour shift wouldn't exist at all. So i'll give them that much, but nowadays, I wouldn't openly support unions unless employers were trying to bring us back to sweatshop conditions.
