Well if you play missions with the DDs set to elite your troubles will be over - oh, and don't make your sub a deep diving bathyscaph. I usually play in waters that are only 80 meters deep at max anyway - as in 'DDs Arenas' set in the Irish sea.
the careers are just so boring with convoys that all look the same and that have few DDs. In fact that is what I am wondering, what mod should I load to make career worth even playing?
