This plan went to the garbage can when I didn't notice I had accidentally put caps lock on and then pressed n to get the manual recognition. The game interpreted it as shift+n which in my Stiebler modded system puts on forced time compression 64
Luckily I was submerged, it was night time, and the enemy was blind, and I didn't collide with anything. I just sailed on by the convoy before I realised what the problem was and could take the TC off.
