If you have it installed here (SH3 install folder inside c:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) ), then you need to run it as an administrator. And perhaps even disable UAC entirely to work without problems at all with modding. Running any application with a account with administrator priviledges is a security risk. Consider the damage a worm/trojan/virus can do if it infected SH3.exe and has free reign on your pc.

Not for SH3, not for SH3 Commander, not for JSGME, not for SH3Gen. Only administrator priveleges are needed for installation and patching. (of any application)

That still is true all the time. But if it is not in Program Files then removing files is alot less of a hassle due to UAC interference.
thanks for the brush up. all i have said is true. and dont have any problems. but i think this may help Sea Wraith clarify what he needs.
