Not sure on this one mate, but as a guess should you have both running? What I mean is doesn't a widescreen mod negate the need for the hires-fix
Also the fact that the drivers are clean install isn't the reason, per se, it's the driver version itself. In your circumstance tho I'm not sure that is the problem.
Like I say just a guess because I don't use a widescreen mod myself
