Basically he said that the 3D effect is not the most important thing in oculus rift. The 3D thingy where stuff jumps right before your eye is "nice to have" but not necessary.
I contributed to the Kickstarter mainly because i have tons of Unitys project that would hugely benefit from the device, but i hope when the real commercial version is released, then some talented hacker in subsim community will make this work with SH. (Does not have to be SH5. SH4 or SH3 GWX would do just fine)

Actually, now that you mention SH4, I always hope that there is another life or tier coming for SH4. I really love going back to it once in a while, mostly because of the historical aspect and because some aspects of the game look and play really good. Most of the actual gameplay bugs were worked out. I think that the merchant and warships look great. A couple of the mods had the terrain and sea looking good, and I had no problem with the fleetboats, they all looked great, from the inside and out, very realistic. The teleporting thing is hard to go back to but, if this game could somehow be married to the Oculus Rift headset technology, that would breathe a whole new life into SH4. Which is a game that I think is sadly overlooked in the series these days.
Anyway, I optimistic as long as ubisoft doesn't have a hand in it , I can just imagine what playing this would be like with the Oculus Rift gizmo thingamajig...
