I would say the best thing is to learn how to attack under storm conditions and heavy fog - as R/L Kaleus must do. It is not as difficult as you think. You only need 3 things:
1) patience
2) patience
3) patience

But you can also use Patch V16B1 from h.sie (see "Realism and..." here on this page) where you can change the number of storm periods / fog periods in the INI file.
