Just got around to reading this. I am surprised CCIP won after the disaster with his carriers.

Tassaforonga is worth virtually nothing to either side. If anyone has been wondering why my entire operation was aimed at PNG rather than the Solomons, this is why. Outside of playing for the sake of historical realism, there is no reason to go there once you are booted out other than trying to stop the Allied player from using the area

I would tend to go along with your reasoning here. In this type of game, the point awards largely determine the strategy employed.
