because the company that made the planes want someone to pay big money for the rights to use its likeness
if you did it for yourself fine, i dont think anyone will knock down your door but if you put it up for others to download then that action means you are an online pirate giving out copyrighted materials, if you upload that here or anywhere else for downloading then that website can be shut down and sued over it.
what sounds like it makes good common sense doesnt always follow the rules of law that can cover copyrighted stuff because someone somewhere always wants to be greedy and make money off of others work.
