Yes, but then we have the problem of the historical accuracy of Monster Island's location and appearance. I can see that forum argurment now:

"No. According to Jane's Radioactive Monsters of the World, 1939, the mountain was moved to the west side of the island in 1927. The lack of limestone foundation on that side of the island prevented the mountain from settling."
