First thing is to thank him for his service to our country. Then ask him his name, what boat he served on, if he wasn't the skipper, who his skipper was, what position he had on the boat, any memorable adventures he may have had. Since he was wearing the shirt and hat, he will probably talk to you, if you show you are sincerely interested in what he has to say.
