+First i would try to hold a radio connection to the base station.

XX. MONTH YEAR. XXhXX. FROM:U999 TO BdU
POSITION N57 31 W08 27.
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONTINUE THE MISSION.
ATTEMPT TO REPAIR DIESELENGINES FAILED.
BATTERYSTATUS: LOW.
RADIO-COMMUNICATION AT 02:30 AM UTC EVERY DAY.
AWAITING FURTHER ORDERS.
SOBER.

+Try to lay down the u-boat on the seabed.
The location seems to be right but this would be the most dangerous part.
Distance to island Uist 34nm, to island Saint Kilda 17nm.

+Try to disconnect all electrical equipment while waiting for the next Radio-communication time.

The question is: Is it realistic to assume that there will be a Search And Rescue operation for the u-boat and u-boat crew by the Kriegsmarine?
