I don't know, TDW, I think I did it to myself by playing around with .py and IRAI to keep Scapa from crashing (the latter worked, by the way.) I know that playing around with the mods while on patrol may sometimes lead to odd results.

So I muddled around and created a new journal file and loaded a save from right before I noticed the ship sunk marker not appearing (I had a fat Tommy closing in on me in that save, I always save when I see a new target) and went ahead and sent her to the bottom and the marker and log message came back again.

Of course, since I created a new log file the first four sinkings in the Baltic (and the Royal Oak, but I don't care about that one since I got the tonnage, mission completed and renown for it) aren't on my map anymore, but that's really not important. I didn't lose anything other than a few markers on the map. Everything else is A OK. I'll just chalk it up as another lesson in "don't mess with your files while you're on patrol"

All is good. I have my messages back and my markers. The first are the most important as they tell me not to bother pounding a target as it's already sinking. That was the only thing I cared about.

In other news, I won the sweepstakes in some silly computer part lottery and will be getting a new rig. I always thought they were a waste of time since you have 60,000,000 people entering and only a dozen winning anything, but for once I won something. Not the first prize, I "only" got a water-cooled Intel 2550K box, but I can't wait to see how it will run SH5 when it gets here
