Pikeys gonna pike...
We have more than a few problems with romany gypsy gangs shoplifting and pick pocketing... the classic someone bumps into you, you turn your attention to them, they say excuse me, or sorry, meanwhile your wallet or purse is lifted by an accomplice.
In at least two smallish towns near me this is a common problem, identified by local police.
Saw some examples of shoplifting in my voluntary work just last month - distract the till staff, whilst a second or third individual puts clothes/other small items into a shopping bag. When stopped and asked... sorry, no english, no english...blah blah blah.
...But not all pikeys pike.
It is a problem, though, even if it's not one that applies to all gypsies. Roma or otherwise.
