no idea of german naval history of WWII,hmm? look, there were only the Type IX/long range submarines available for operations in the pacific and along the us coast, besides some "milkcows" of no combat value. the latter type xviii is only a "What if"-gimmick for fun,none had ever been built. and the net cutter was a wwI-relic, which was removed soon after the war started, since it increased water resistance.
