Oh yeah, I did read about the USS New Orleans history before I started playing. About how they made a bow out of coconut wood, drove backwards to Australia, had a new temporary bow fitted, etc.

I just find it odd that I was able to wade in to a group of thirteen warships, including an enemy heavy cruiser — which I didn't actually notice for a long time in all the confusion, so it shot me a lot — all firing shells at me, tons of sounds of explosions and bullets hitting the ship, and take zero hull damage, zero subsystem damage, zero crew casualties.

There's plenty of proof that it's not invincible ... aside from the ramming incident, I actually ran aground last night while trying to cross through the Torres Straits (damn tiny island didn't show up on my map) and was unable to extricate myself before flooding lowered us enough to make it impossible, and eventually sank. Lots of crew casualties, lots of system damage, lots of hull damage. But constant shelling from enemy ships? Nothing.

Just confusing, is all.
