when i was writing my war diary story i had a big notebook where i scribbled down everything, including the number of depthcharges and the stuff like:
'calm sea clear weather, at least 5 escorts but decided to attack convoy anyway, periscope depth schleichfahrt 2246"
it was a lot of fun and great for immersion
