i don't understand what is happening here actually.
first i'd like to say that the new chart isn't actually a slide rule, since nothing actually slides. A slide ruler has a physically moving component. This is a chart.
On the other hand, the RAOBF is a slide ruler, since the middle wheel does slide.
But secondly I don't really understand why you are going to the trouble of measuring the aspect ratio of the target as shown in the recognition manual, and then comparing it with the measured aspect ratio as soon through the periscope.
This is the exact calculation that the RAOBF was designed to do in just a few seconds in the first place. Why not just use the RAOBF to do the whole operation as it has always been?
Or am I missing something?
