Yes it has.

First off, wondering if my system will be able to handle it.My PC is barely 6 months old but was disappointed when I purchased a copy of IL-2 Cliffs of Dover and it would not run the game properly.SH 5 seems like it may be a bit demanding.

It is, but that can be overcome. What are your specs?

Are there mods to kill the bugs?

Yes. Look to TheDarkWraith. There are others, but his are a good place to start. I can't tell you much more, because my seven-year-old single-core system barely runs it at all.

Are there mods that allow the campaign to go beyond 1943(which is just lazy on UBI's part)
|
Yes, but that's already been answered. I only addressed it because it's not laziness, but poor planning (at least by my judgement). Rather than just having you go out and sink ships as they did in real life, they tried to inject a command structure, in which you have to sink X tonnage by Y date, or the campaign doesn't progress. This has nothing to do with any real campaign. I understand that there are mods which fix that as well, but my PC won't let me get far enough to verify it.

Are there more playable submarines other than the type VII?
|
No. The reason is that they wanted to model the complete interior of the boat so you could walk all around. To do that for more than one type of boat would take a lot more time than they were allowed. The good news is that the interiors of the different variants are also different.

DRM was patched out correct?

Many months ago.

SH 5 is really cheap now so not worried about the money, just dont want to waste my time but it looks like it has potential.

It definitely has potential, and is closer to fulfilling it every day. Whether it has what you want at this point is a judgement call. Even if my PC would run it I'd still be playing all the others as well, but that's because it doesn't yet have everything I'm looking for. Emphasis on "yet".
