Thanks, Swat! Yours ain't too shabby either. I'm going to have to add the sparkling waves myself now because that really is something that I remember from years on the ocean.

I can also relate to the "quit making this damn thing better so I can start playing it instead of taking screenshots all the time!" I've long since stopped using anything but SH5 screenies for desktop backgrounds and my kids are forever going "wow, dad! Is that a real picture?"

The screenie I took in the post above was with my new settings and much trial and error. I can now turn everything up to "awesome" and, even on my rig, still stay above 20FPS even in "heavy" areas. I also noticed, other than upgrading to nVidia's latest drivers instead of sticking with what works, that part of my problem other than the aging CPU is a lack of system memory. I'm still chugging along with only 4Gb of it (64-bit system so it IS using it) and it's never been a problem before. Even with my old 260 I could run BFBC2 with 60 FPS and everything turned up to "wow", but SH5 is a different animal, particularly if you use the mods that make it worth playing. It's not only CPU heavy, it's also very much MEM heavy. I noticed that by looking at my HDD LED when I was in port with low frame rates. It was on constantly, shuffling data between the HDD and the mem. And I know that it's not my HDD transfer rates, I built this rig far better than it needed to be when I built it, it's just that it hasn't enough mem to store it in with "only" 4Gb.

So I've got another 4Gb on the way to get me up to 8Gb. I'm fairly confident that that'll help. And if it doesn't, it's only $60.

But at least everything is stable as a rock now, even when I turn it up to "wow".
