After an uneventful patrol at AN49, the grid assigned by the BdU, Gunter Geiser, the Kaleun of U-22, a Type II Uboat from the 1st Flotilla decides to have a look at Lerwick. 10 Km out of the Lerwick, U-22 evades two destroyers patrolling but there is another one right on the mouth of the harbour. Geiser decides that entering the port is one thing, but getting out afterwards is another. So he decides to sneak towards the destroyer and attack , before making a run for it

4 uneventful days pass by. The only excitement being a crash dive seconds before being spotted by an Anson aircraft. The same day, late in the afternoon my WO spots a merchant. I decide to proceed with a surface attack.
