In real life a sub tender (USN) would effect machine shop type repairs. The milch cow as Sailor Steve remarked typically was for restocking although temp repairs made on the sub by milch cow crew may be enhanced by their additional quals to effect permenant repair (in my immersion dreams). I speak to light repair items U488 helps me with. I had a picture frame with Helga's picture repaired by them
