Eimlost...
I think so. I've recently started playing SH5 again from a long break due to MOD soup crashes and conflicts. But I think I have a pretty good set up going now. The graphics are supreme and I haven't had a single CTD yet since my new MOD mix. I did have one computer lockup happen because of over heating. I have my graphics set to max everything and using 2 Nvidia GFX-400 cards in SLI mode. Both cards are getting pretty damn hot. To keep it from locking up I'm now using active cooling by piping in cold air into my case. Seems to be working well so far.
Anyway, in a nut shell, and you have to be some kind of a nut to like submarines, if you have good hardware, this game is the cat's meow. Takes brains to figure out some of the firing solutions and more brains to figure out how to develope a situation that favors a good firing solution.
The default game still needs lots of polish so a few MODs can make a world of difference. So if you buy the game, you should expect some trial and error finding the just right mods you like best.
My MOD mix as follows.
Remove Electric Torpedo Wakes=1
sobers see thru wake fix=2
Unterseeboot II SFX=3
Dynamic Environment SH5 Basemod (realistic version) V2.1=4
Dynamic Environment SH5 Sounds V2.1=5
Dynamic Environment SH5 Atlantic Floor V2.1=6
OPEN HORIZONS II_full v1.7=7
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast=8
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1=9
#Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_HotFix=10
The order that you install them is important if any mod replaces any other mod's files. In the above list. Only the patches at the bottom must come after the first Equipment Fix.
So far I'm having a blast.
Oh and some mods, if you upgrade them to the latest, you don't get the changes unless you start a new campaign. Open Horizons II is a mod that only takes effect when you start a new campaign. It sets up ships and other floating stuff at the beginning. If those things gets destroyed they are effectively dead for the rest of the game. That's why some mods require a restart to make them work.
And the campaigns are quite long. So you kind of need to make sure you have the mods you want to play settled before you go on a long game.
