I'm disappointed at what I saw here in this thread. Was it really necessary to rip this guy a new one for asking his question (and his harmless turd reference) when you could have simply answered his question (God forbid, that that happens in a forum, eh?), or directed him to the threads Takeda mentioned, but without the snide comments about not bothering to look at the first page of the board? Honestly, aside from the ".. what mods do I need?" thread, are the titles of those other threads that definitive that anyone is going to know exactly what they are about or that they relate to what GatorSub1942 wanted to know? It's not like anything similar jumps out at a quick glance.

Both of you have Subsim badges with your avatars - one of you is part of the "Subsim Welcome" team, and the other a moderator. You should have shown your status and lead by example by being more welcoming, helpful, and/or encouraging, rather than what you displayed here. You didn't rip strips off those other four guys in the other four threads, and I can't see any strong enough reason to do it to GatorSub1942 in this one.

He's made 20 posts in five years, and there's nothing wrong with that. A scolding like the one he got, and we may see less of him, if we see him again at all. I wouldn't be surprised if other noobs or lurkers read this thread and are afraid to come out and post at all now.

.. that's my two cents

p.s. Not all of us read these forums every day, or every thread in them, enough so that we know of every piece of news or change. DRM has been gone for a while now, and I just happened to stumble over that news a little while ago, myself. That's just the way it is. No big deal. We should be happy to get people (back into) playing this game, instead of chastising them for not being up-to-speed with current events.
When the answer is directly in front of you, and you come out swinging with those old 'polish a turd' and 'retarded DRM' comments, yes one deserves to be straightened out. There is nothing more unhealthy for a community than those that come to poison the well. And if one's intention is not to poison the well, then one should not speak as though that is the intention. If you do, then don't be surprised if the response is not how you like. Or, at the very least, do not expect to be spoon-fed answers that are, again, sitting right in front of you.

As you pointed out, we are all trying to move forward in a healthy manner. The rehashing of the problems of the past is not healthy. Moreso when inflamatory language is used. The other four threads, which you indicated were devoid of my presence, were also devoid of this inherently hostile tone. Act respectfully and you will be treated with respect.
