Dangerous Waters is not about "blowing stuff up", per se. It is meant to be a modern naval tactical simulator...as best as can be expected on the open market, that is.

Many of the canned missions are more about reconnaissance, evasion and SF insertion than anything. Don't get me wrong, there are MORE than enough missions of blowing stuff up, but that is not the primary goal. A firefight, in many of the missions is the last thing you want to get into because dodging torpedoes is quite challenging and if you are in any sub, one hit is all it takes. In a lot of the missions, counterdetection is considered mission failure despite not having a "game over" script for it.
DW requires a different mindset that other naval sims, especially SH. Of course, if you just want to blow stuff up, spam the Kilo Demo mission. It is a great stress release.
