In the book "HMS Victory" by Noel CLHackney you can read that during the reorganization of the ship in 1800, the gun deck fittings and the gun carriages were painted by instructions of the Admiralty in sunflower yellow, the original red color remains only on the gun ports fittings and the insides of the gun port hatch covers.
