Did you check your My Documents folder for the folder named SH3? That contains the said cfg folder with your savegames at some deeper level. (In XP your "My Documents" folder should be stored in that "Document and Settings" folder, but it might be difficult to find for you.) The savegames will not be in the install folder of SH3.

My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\Otto Schuhart\0
= Patrol 0 folder for Kaleun Otto Schuhart
