NWS new WW1 naval game
Steam and Iron released last night for digital download.
Game ships with a scenario editor and ship editor allowing the player to design their own warships or add those not included in the database.
Simple graphics, top-down map view with global geographical data and the ability to create scenarios anywhere in the world. Very simple GUI, includes fog of war and command-control limitations that reflect period doctrine and communications. Have so far played Coronel and
HMAS Sidney vs.
SMS Emden with gratifyingly reasonable results.
Details here:
Steam and Iron
Includes submarines and mines, there is no aircraft as yet and a campaign addon is being discussed. Definitely worth a look for those interested in the era and even after a very short acquaintance have had more enjoyment than SES'
Jutland or
Distant Guns have ever provided.
Hope to prepare a detailed review in a couple of days.
