Picture time!
This was next to my spawn in my previous world.
Tired of living on the ground with all the common livestock and rabble? Tired of creepers standing outside your doors waiting for you to come out?
Move into Spike's Modular house blocks!
Essentially I'm building what looks like a giant oil rig. Each base is 10 meters a part, and supports 15x15 squares up top, each "section" has an area of 225 blocks on the top. Whenever I want more room, I just add another section.
Most of base is made out of CF foam with the rest being constructed out of cobblestone.
Ideally I'd like to set up a blueprint that Buildcraft can follow(Hopefully buildcraft spawned CF foam will harden), which will allow me to just plop down a machine and have it add in any other sections I want.
While it may be cheaper to build on the ground, I find it much cooler this way.

A view from one of the first 6 "bases" I constructed, you can see the other 5.

What an unfinished "base" looks like.

Six semi-finished sections. The 2 deep section will be covered and act as a crawl space for redstone and other wiring.

View from underneath(I may need to add more lighting to prevent mobs from spawning in the day) I'm also going to build a rail station on the bottom.

View from the side with the unfinished staircase(There will be an "elevator" once I get the cart system up)
The idea is loosely based off of Big Shell from MGS2, and the complex from MGS Peace Walker.
