And this is what makes the SOPA so ridiculous and reveals the lies of the creators. I think it is already today possible, under current US laws, to do a cease and desist if a site host materials that infringes copyrights.

This is why we are also outraged in Europe, as the majority of DNS servers are located in the US. So a law that some old farts in America propose, people who would certainly print out a webpage by putting their monitors onto a Xerox, would indeed have a global impact.
For example the German
Piratenpartei (pirate party) does the same as wiki with their page today, as a sign of solidarity and to show that this law would also cripple us in the Old World.
