I don't know what mod's you're playing with, but a C3 should be brought down consistantly with one eel, 500m or less range, set for M, 3.5m depth, 70-80 deg. AOB. That's playing at 86% realism,...... maybe you're playing at a higher setting and that makes a difference.

It's been my experience that with those settings, a hit in the sweet spot is practically automatic.

Tankers and C2's are another matter though, and I've used as many as four eels to sink them.
