WinXP is far more tolerant (or less protective?) than is Win7. You can get away with installing extra stuff to c:/Program Files in WinXP. You are not advised to do that with Win7. Not-so-funny things can sometimes happen when you do
or so I am told by reliable I.T. types and other Subsim forum users.

I know it works with GWX Gold. Be sure you are editing Careers.cfg, not Careers_0.cfg. I don't use Commander, so it may have something to do with the Commander settings. Someone else will have to answer that for you.
