Paul, have you looked at DFend Reloaded? It's a Windows Front End for DOS box (comes with a copy pre-installed) and I use it for all my sub simulations, including SHCE!
It's very easy to install and setup, and it will walk you through setting up the simulations on the Virtual HD.
There is a post on this forum by me regarding which subsims I have running now, the total is around 16 or 17.
