I can relate to what you are saying when there needs to be some sort of regulatory and standard when it comes to mod naming conventions as i am new here and knowing what mods are superseding other mods is doing my head in.
I have checked out some mod 'soups' and dl their list of mods. Is this the best way to do it?

hi Mace, yes its a head masher!!
here is my current mod list:
Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS]
Magnum_Opus_v0_0_1
Anti-Lag
Original map colors
Shadow Improvement ModLR
NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith
Manos Scopes-patch for 8x5
Depth_Keeping_Problem_HB_2_0_0_TheDarkWraith
TheDarkWraith_DC_Water_Disturbances_v2_0_SH5
i have no idea if this list will work. when i activated the
last two it seems to be ok. there were no conflicts. but i have not tried them yet. some large mods conflict with other ones and yet it seems that sometimes this is alright - even necassary.
at the moment i will keep it simple, im no techno in these things but i sure would like to MY SH5 stable and running smoothly.
i think you need immence patience for this......one mod... at a... time!
if you are uncertain you could always PM the creator of a new mod
your mod list and the one you whish to use with it and ask him directly if there will be a conflict.
if you are lucky enough to get a stable mod list post it here for all to see!!
good luck AND perhaps for now - KEEP IT SIMPLE
ps: YOU MUST WATCH stoianms THREE VIDEO TUTORIALS TO UNDERSTAND THINGS LIKE '
MANOS SCOPES PATCH' this particular one is to do with your screen resolution on your monitor and how it works within the game on your periscope - there is some maths needed but stoianm shows you how to do it.

dont give up - keep bashing away at it, you'll get there
