In GWX you start in August 1939 - one month before the war started. The purpose is to get some training in, and at that time all ships are neutral. You sink one, you become the enemy of everybody for the next 24 hours.

I had only recently saved the game so I tried again & made it back to port with only one weird happening - as I was about to enter the dock entrance, I started taking damage - I thought here we go again - but had a look outside to find a large Destroyer which had been moored at the quay had exploded & was sinking. No sign of enemy ships or planes around - that was another strange happening. Again, anyone any clues?

When and where did you last save the game? If you save within sight of port when you reload all ships lose their waypoints and crash into things.
