U47 - Lt.z.S. Willi Hartmann - 2nd patrol - Sept. 1939 182039 - AM23

Finally in the patrol area, lower right corner of AM23. On our way we peeped into Loch Ewe - too much guard activity on the outside. Proceeded to Stornoway - port totally empty. Further down the channel hit on a small merchant. Took the mid channel through the Hebrides, headed directly for the patrol station. Weather has been nice, a little too nice, all the way.

Presently heavy ovcst with some lightning, very moderate swell.
