yes i have uninstalled SH3 and then reinstalled it a dozen times since last night and then i have tried those patches (DVD version and Download version) under several compatibility modes (winXp Sp3, SP2, Vista, you name it) and always end up with some crab message "some file (sometimes the game engine .dll, the game engine itself, menu.de, menu.en)"unknown version" and boom. the patch exits before starting. somebody had suggested to rename or remove the file under scrutiny on this case and try to run the patch, this didn't work either. the patch gives an error message "some other file* unknown version" or simply "missing file"
i have another question by the way, when i install this version of SH3 under Win7, it doesn't ask for any license. the installation progress continues until the end and the game can be launched immediately. but i remember long ago when i was installing the same version under XP, i had to run a SPITFIRE.EXE (it used to automatically appear under the game installation directory)which would then enter some registry keys into windows registry after which the game could be launched. but this SPITFIRE.EXE doesn't exist when i run the setup it under WIN 7. i guess this is all because of licensing, although i have paid about 60 box for it. how much have you paid for it?
